Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
As mentioned in the research plan for FY2017, in order to investigate the consistency with results in Japan, this research focuses on empirical analysis which is based on the previous theoretical framework. In the previous theoretical work, we successfully established a model which could be employed to explain the pattern of intergenerational mobility. There remains an important question that could this theoretical model be supported by the real data, especially in Japan. We turn to data from the Preference Parameters Study of Osaka University and accomplish the empirical analysis. We examine and verify our hypothesis from the theoretical model that parents are more likely to be authoritative if they are from wealthy families. The result shows how childhood family economic status influences the intergenerational transmission of parenting style. The research paper which summarizes the theoretical results is accepted and published by International Journal of Economics and Finance.
