Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study is to analyze the development process of amoeba management, mainly focusing on 1980s and onward. It also examines how its management accounting system adapts to external environments and management strategy. Research method is qualitative based on interviews and archival data research.
The research relies on the Mintzberg's concept in strategy, "Learning School". It examined how Amoeba Management adapted to external and strategic change of the firm and, also, how it helped strategic changes of the firm, based on detailed illustration of cases.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究成果の特徴は、ミンツバーグが提示する「ラーニング・スクール」の戦略概念に基づきながら、アメーバ経営の歴史的な形成および変化のプロセスについて、明らかにしたことである。既存研究においては、暗黙裡に、「プラニング・スクール」における戦略概念をもとに分析が行われている。しかしながら、本研究においては、「結果として生み出された行動の束」として戦略をとらえている。そうすることで、アメーバ経営が、事前の計画としての戦略に従属的に規定されるのではなく、アメーバ経営を通じて、現場で日々生み出される最善策をいち早く拾い上げ、組織内に展開することで、組織の行動を変化させていることが明らかになった。
