Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this research, we conducted an experiment to investigate perception on sentencing among ordinary citizens by asking about how big of a sentence is appropriate for a specific crime using the bottom-up approach. Specifically, we developed a game that can be played on smartphones, etc. to allow users make judgements on penalties. By having users play that game on their smartphones, etc. it became possible to analyze what types of crime factors influence judgements on appropriateness of sentencing. In the future we plan continue analyzing the obtained data.
