Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research study explored the importance of music appraisals in UK schools through a literature review, interview-based study, and classroom observation. After the new National Curriculum was introduced in the UK, appraising music has been more emphasised in GCSE music. Therefore in secondary school education, music appraisal has become more highly prioritised in teaching towards high achievements in GCSE. As a result, music teaching in schools has been more influenced by this greater emphasis on appraisals than from the National Curriculum.
