Outline of Annual Research Achievements

The design and construction of dual-gain wide-range ASIC preamplifiers for silicon detectors has been completed in collaboration with Atomic institute in Hungary. A full set of electronics (32 ASIC boards) with a complete HINP readout and DAQ system has been assembled and thoroughly tested in RIKEN. The performance of the entire detection system with respect to low-energy signals from energetic protons has been verified in HIMAC test experiment using light ion beams. Owing to good performance and readiness of the entire system, the necessary preparations for experiment at RIBF have been conducted, which includes besides others: construction and test of the new vacuum chamber, complete technical design and onsite preparation of the experimental setup at SAMURAI validated through simulations, submission of the official beam time request, detailed planning of the experiment and its preparation phase including arrangement of the kickoff and regular meetings with the collaborators. However, due to unavailable 78Kr primary at RIBF in this year, the experiment has to be rescheduled for the next year. The newly assembled system with silicon detectors is planned to be tested and used in another SAMURAI experiment which will take place in June 2018, which also aim at studying breakup of proton rich nucleus (9C). This will allow for the setup tuning under real experiment conditions which will be helpful for running this experiment when 78Kr will become available at RIBF in the near future.
