Outline of Final Research Achievements

The histological analysis revealed that the retinal vascular endothelial cells in Prom1 KO mice were smaller than ones in WT. Moreover the density and the length of renal cilia in Prom1 KO are much lower than WT and Prom1 KO mice have hematuria.
The outer segments of photoreceptor in the KO mice were shortened compared with that of WT. This degeneration was initiated after the mice open their eyes, thus it suggested that the light exposure might cause Prom1-mediated photoreceptor degeneration.
