Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Computed the exact microstructure in sandwich structures of nematic elastomers. Identified an Artificial Intelligence application in the design of sensors for detecting elastic inclusions by tuning the optical microstructure. This will be pursued in the future. 1 Paper published [5]. Accomplished variational modeling of atomistic models describing disclinations in a lattice and continuum modeling of self-similar microstructure leading to disclinations in non-linear models of martensite. Found relevant connection with disclinations in Shape-Memory Alloys which has lead to further grants. One paper posted on Arxiv [2] and another paper will be submitted for publication soon [1]. This is complemented by stochastic modeling of avalanche formation in martensite ([3] submitted for publication in October 2018). Accomplished analysis of a 4th-order model for reaction diffusion equation with application in surface diffusion in metals. One paper has been submitted for publication and is currently under review [4]. Papers produced:
