Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The research project investigated to what extent individual psychological factors and environmental factors affected motivation among learners of English and a language other than English(LOTE). A summary of the main results follows: (1)There were positive and negative interplays between motivation toward English learning and motivation toward LOTE; (2) learners incorporated parental/important persons expectations into their language learning motivational orientation; and (3) those aforementioned factors affected learners' psychological factors during language learning processes.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では、英語とそれ以外の外国語の2言語学習者を対象に、様々な心理的要因を包括的に測定したことに学術的意義がある。英語に対する動機づけがその他の外国語学習に対する動機づけに影響をしていることが分かり、今後、「英語」教育における動機づけ・心理的要因の研究分野でも、対象者が「英語以外の言語を話すのかという視点」が、研究に取り入れられる必要があるということが分かった。
