Outline of Annual Research Achievements

最終年度は、本申請課題で取り組んできた課題(「西部北極海の混合過程の復元」)をオリジナルの論文にまとめ、国際誌(Polar Science)に投稿し、査読プロセスを経て年内に出版することができた。この論文では、当該研究計画の中で提案した内容をおおよそ計画通りに実現することができた。論文の要点を述べると、西部北極海のノースウィンド海台と呼ばれる場所に設置した係留系のデータを解析し、海氷と海洋の物理的性質について調べた。特に、海氷の運動特性と海洋上層の内部重力波の関係に注目し解析を行った。ここでは、海洋の流速場から乱流混合のエネルギー量を推定し、当該海域における1年間の変動サイクルを明らかにすることに成功した。これらの変動は、海氷の厚さや空間密度が比較的小さい季節(初夏や結氷初期)に、海氷の慣性振動の高まりに起因することがわかった。
In the last year of this JSPS project, we had successfully accomplished a publication regarding the subject that we planned in the initial proposal. In this paper, dataset of ocean current and sea ice physics in the western part of Arctic Ocean was analyzed. As outstanding findings, during seasons of sea ice diminishing, i.e. early summer and early ice-forming months, ice drift is relatively high, and it results in more energy of internal waves that has similar periodicity and propagates in the upper part of water column.
