Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The project was put on hold in 2018 because project collaborator, Dr. Hilary Holbrow, went on parental leave during the year. In spite of her leave, we were able to add two publications, and several presentations to our list of accomplishments related to our project (see list below). We were also able to meet in Philadelphia in August 2018 to discuss the project, and to plan for the year ahead.
In late 2018, we made significant advances in data acquisition through our involvement in a MEXT sponsored project on diversity. We will become more actively involved in our project during 2018 as Dr. Holbrow returns from her leave.
In August 2019, we plan to meet in New York for the American Sociological Meeting to present our latest research and to discuss our project.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Project collaborator, Dr. Hilary Holbrow, was on parental leave in March 2018. We applied for and was granted a one-year extension of the project funding. We plan to be back on schedule in 2019 as Dr. Holbrow returns from her leave.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We will resume the research project in 2019. In 2018, we were invited to join the large-scale project "Program to support research activities of female researchers" sponsored by MEXT and Japan Science and Technology Agency, and organized by Osaka University. The project will collect a broad range of diversity-related information through a consortium of private corporations. We will be involved in designing the survey, collecting the data, and analyzing the results. Data collection is currently underway.
|
Causes of Carryover |
We did not use up all of our allocated budget for 2018 because of reduced travel during Dr. Holbrow's leave. We will coordinate a meeting between the two researchers during academic year 2019, which will require travel funds.
