Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In 2019, project collaborator, Dr. Hilary Holbrow and I became key investigators in the large-scale project “diversity and inclusion in Japanese companies,” sponsored by MEXT and the All Nippon Diversity Network (OPENeD), and organized by Osaka University. We collected a broad range of information regarding the effects of globalization and diversity on the workplace through a consortium of private corporations. We designed the survey, and collected the data online (through Qualtrics) during September and December of 2019. We collected a total of 5218 observations from six corporations including Japanese and foreign firms, in manufacturing, communications, information technology, and energy. In early 2020, we started conducting preliminary analyses. We provided feedback to the participating corporations, and presented some early results from our statistical analyses.
