中空光導波路における巨大可変特性発現とその光ネットワークデバイスへの展開

Research Abstract

本研究では,光を空気あるいは真空に閉じこめた可変中空光導波路を実現し,巨大な可変伝搬特性を具現化するとともに,巨大な波長可変特性を可能とする光フィルタ/レーザ,光ルーティング素子,光スイッチ,光遅延線などの光デバイスの実現を目指して研究を進め,以下の成果を得た.
(1)低損失・偏光無依存3次元中空光導波路の設計と製作
3次元中空光導波路の低伝搬損失と低偏光依存性を実現するための構造設計について示すとともに,ナノステップ構造の3次元中空光導波路を製作し,3x10^<-5>の小さいな偏光依存性を実現した.
(2)テーパ型中空光導波路を用いた広帯域可変波長ミラー
波長可変ミラーは対向させた2枚のミラーに対して,上部ミラーでコア厚およびテーパ角の制御を行い,下部ミラーにはプラグ反射で光を取り出すための回折格子を装荷している.テーパ構造を用いることで結合用ファイバとデバイスの結合効率の改善を可能にした.コア厚を1.6〜10.7μmに変化させることで,1450〜i638nmの180nm以上のブラッグ反射の巨大可変特性が得られている.同時にコア厚変化による損失変化も2dB程度に抑えることに成功した.
(3)中空光導波路を用いた光合波器
多波長VCSELアレイの出力を1本の光ファイバへ合波する合波回路として,テーパ中空導波路を応用することを提案した.パターン基板上MOCVD法によって製作された多波長VCSELアレイの表面を中空導波路反射面として利用し,提案したデバイスの試作を行った.500μm間隔のVCSELアレイにおいて,4チャネルのVCSEL出力光を合波し,マルチモード1ファイバ大直接結合する事が可能であることを示した.試作結果では,挿入損失が大きいが,光線追跡による解析に1より,反射面に高反射率(≧99.5%)であるBragg反射鏡を導入し,VCSELアレイ形状にトレンチ構造を採用することにより,挿入損失を1dB以下に減らすことが可能である.また,VCSELアレイのピッチを縮小化し,テーパ角を最適化することにより,高密度VCSELアレイの合波への適用・更なる多チャンネル化に対応可能であることを示した.
