Research Abstract

The purposes of the present Scientific Research in Priority Area "Science of Ionic Liquids" are to elucidate 1) what is the essence of ionic liquids, 2) what happen in ionic liquids, and 3) what we can do by use of ionic liquids, and then to perform fundamental studies to design ionic liquids with task-specific properties and functions. To attain these purposes, we organized a generalizing committee. The committee bore the following roles : i) giving advices to members of the Area to perform smooth researches, directing the courses of the researches and giving suggestions to make collaborations among the members, ii) holding the research meetings and symposiums including international ones, and iii) publishing the research-results by paper reports and through the Internet. The members of our Area performed almost all the aims. In the Evaluation Committee after the project, our Research Area got the judge "A+", which is the highest rank. Namely, the project was judged so as to have performed fruitful results exceeding the beginning expectation and aims.
