イオン液体の次元制御と機能制御による新機能発現

Research Abstract

有機イオンからなるイオン液体の幅広い構造デザインの可能性に注目し、次元構造または機能が精密に制御された系を創出することを目的として研究を推進させた。次元制御の面からは、長鎖アルキルなどを持ったイオン液体の自己組織化、液晶性を有するイオン液体の設計と、集合状態の解析、さらには重合性基をもったイオン液体の高分子化を進めた。イオン伝導の方向制御や選択的なイオン輸送を実現するとともに、従来のイオン液体が有する高イオン伝導性や電気化学的安定性に優れた系を得ることができた。機能制御の面からは、セルロースなどの多糖類やポリペプチド、天然ゴムを溶解できるイオン液体を合成し、溶解能力とイオン液体の特性の相関について詳細に検討した。その結果、生体由来の難溶性高分子を室温で溶解できるイオン液体の合成に成功した。一方、高機能イオン液体のデザインも進めた。例えば、アミノ酸誘導体をアニオンとするイオン液体と水との相浴相分離挙動を解析した。また、異なるイオン液体を混合するだけでゲルを形成させることにも成功した。これはイオン濃度を下げることなくゲル化させる新規方法である。一方で、イオン液体に酵素を変性せずに溶解させるための工夫として、水和イオン液体を詳細に検討し、基質から電子を取り出すことに成功した。水中よりもタンパク質の寿命が延びることも見出し、水系では行えなかった酵素反応系や、新規の生物燃料電池の開発に繋がる成果を得た
