Research Abstract

金属ナノ粒子の酸化に関連する中空化現象を透過電子顕微鏡(TEM)を用いて調査した。ZnおよびCu酸化物ナノ粒子の中空化現象を見出したので、主にその結果を報告する。
1.蒸発によるZnナノ粒子の中空化
TEM(真空度:5×10^<-5>Pa)中にてアモルファスカーボン基板上にZnナノ粒子を蒸着させ、その後、大気に曝した。再度TEMに戻し、300℃まで加熱したときのZn粒子の変化をその場観察した。250℃付近にて、瞬時に粒子が中空化する様子が観察された。電子線回折パターンの解析結果から、(1)大気酸化におけるZnを覆う表面酸化物ZnOの生成、(2)真空焼鈍における内部Znの蒸発、というメカニズムにより数nmの厚さを有するZnO中空粒子が形成することが明らかとなった。これはZnの表面酸化および高い蒸気圧に起因する現象である。
2.酸化によるZnナノ粒子の中空化
1と同様の手順で作製したZnナノ粒子を大気中において150℃,1h酸化させたところ、直径20nm程度の中空状ZnOが形成した。この現象は1と異なり、Zn/ZnO/O_2という反応系における原子移動に伴うものである。内部のZnが表面ZnOを通じて外向きに移動する速度が、ZnO表面から内部へ侵入していく酸素イオンの速度よりも速いため、結果として内部に原子空孔の集合体としてのナノ孔が形成したものと考えられる。
3.醸化によるCuナノ粒子の中空化
Cuナノ粒子を大気中において150℃,1h酸化させたところ中空状Cu_2Oナノ粒子が形成することが確認された。この現象は2と同様に、酸化過程において内部のCu原子が外方へ移動する速度が速いことに起因すると考えられる。2および3の結果は、酸化によるナノ粒子の中空化において、酸化物中の金属イオンの拡散が速いことが重要であることを強く示唆している。
4.ナノ組織制御によるロータス型ポーラス金属の作製と特性評価
金属を溶解凝固時に、凝固組織をナノスケールで制御することによって高品質のロータス型ポーラス金属および金属間化合物の作製を行った。機械的性質、超弾性特性、磁気抵抗を調べ、ポーラス特有の物性を見出した。
