| Research Abstract |
1.標本の収集とDNAアーカイブの構築
スマトラ、タイ、ミヤンマーに赴き標本採集を行い研究資料とした。その結果、全体で計844種のコイ目魚類が収集され、本目魚類の全亜科を網羅できた。とくに、タイから得られたドジョウの一種Ellopastomaは分類学上もっとも謎の多い種であったため、大きな成果となった。
2.新たに確立した実験手法に基づくコイ目魚類ミトゲノム全長配列の決定
昨年度に開発しIchthyological Researchに発表した実験手法(Miya et al。2006)に基づき、今年度新たに102種のコイ目魚類のミトゲノム全長配列を決定した。全体では計246種のミトゲノム全長配列を決定したことになる。
3.コイ目魚類230種を用いた系統解析結果の学会発表
現在、コイ目魚類の全科・全亜科を網羅する230種を用いた綿密な系統解析を行っている。この結果は2008年度アメリカ魚類両生爬虫類学会年会でHigher-level Relationships of the Cypriniformes(Actinopterygii:Ostariophysi)Inferred from238 Whole Mitochondrial Geneme Sequencesというタイトルで発表する。
4.新たなステップへ
前記研究にさらに分岐年代情報を取り入れることにより、進化史をより詳細な分析を可能とした。その結果はInterrelationships and historical biogeography of cypriniform fishes(Actinopterygii:Ostariophysi):eviderices from mitochondrialgenomics placed familial/subfatnilial branching and intercontinental exchanges oldcr than fossil recordsというタイトルで同学会年会で発表する。
5.国際的イニシアチブの確立
魚類の分子系統学で国際的なイニシアチブの確立を果たすべく、全魚類をターゲットにした研究を幅広く進めた。その成果は2007年度に計8編の論文として発表された。なかでもウェブジャーナルであるBMC Evolutionary Biology7:10に発表した Mabuchi et。 al。(2007)Independent evolution of the specialized phtyngeal jaw apparatus in cichlid and labrid fishesは大きな注目を集め、Research Highlightとして取り上げられただけでなくMoSt viewed articles in past yearsやHighly accessed paperに選ばれ、すでに3500件以上のダウンロードされた。
