Research Abstract

本研究は過去に実施した「若年男性の冠動脈石灰化と頸動脈肥厚による動脈硬化度と循環器疾患危険因子との関連」(基盤(A)(2)H.13～16)を発展させたものである。元の研究では対象を40歳代男性に限定し、300名の調査を行ったが、本研究課題では、これを50～70歳代に拡大し約1000名の調査を行った。また、異人種である米国白人、人種的には日本人であるが米国の生活習慣を持つ日系米人のフィールドとの比較検討を進め、動脈硬化の進展に関わるのは、遺伝要因(人種)よりも環境要因(生活習慣)の影響の方が重要であることを明らかにした。
