Research Abstract |
This research was done to aim at investigating exercise prescription, living guidance and educational program for the purpose of preventing falls, fractures and nursing among the elderly, and at developing scientific, practical and safe intervention method much more. The following findings were obtained. I)The author had observed the relationship between the risk of falls and fracture of the elderly and the effects of 12 weeks exercise prescription and living guidance program during one year. As a result, the mobility function, especially balance function, tended to return the same level before intervention. Therefore, it was considered that the educational program including balance training should be continued after the intervention. II)This study was carried out to investigate how much the falls and fractures prevention program influence on the mobility function and bone strength of the elderly. The results showed that the higher the mobility parameters were, the higher the bone strength at the time one year after the intervention. Consequently, it was thought that we must instructed the elderly to maintain the waking speed in order to keep the bone strength and to prevent falls and fractures. III)This study was performed to examined the effect of falls and fractures prevention program including mainly exercise prescription, on the elderly, living in the nursing institution. The results indicated that the duration of administration was extended and a survival rate was raised high though the intervention and a relative risk (RR) of significance of withdrawal (hospitalization) and/or death were 3.66. Therefore, it was though that falls and fractures prevention program had a very important effect on the elderly, living in the nursing institution.
