Research Abstract

Interest in nanomaterials has been rapidly growing for the past several years. These carbon nanomaterials have been produced by various methods. In those methods, atmosphere temperature are important for quality of produced nanomaterials. On the other hand, several kinds of arc-discharge and pulsed laser ablation in liquid method have been developed. These methods have some advantages in the mass production of carbon nanomaterials compared with any other well-known conventional methods. The method was easy to control atomosphere(liquid) temperature. Therefore, carbon nanomaterials have been prepared using pulsed laser ablation methods in the deionized water (300K) and low temperature superfluid nitrogen (77K) and helium (4K) liquid.
Experimental results suggest as follows.
1)Carbon nano structure can be produced by electric discharge and the PLA method in liquid, independent for the liquid temperature. However, generation rate of the nanotube was increased with increasing atmosphere temperature.
2)Emission from carbon ion and carbon molecule can be observed from discharge in liquid.
3)Strange shape carbon nanotube, such as ring shape carbon nanotube, can be observed in the helium liquid discharge.
