Research Abstract |
The research items and results from the academic year 2005 are as follows : (1) FEM Analyses on Compressive Failure of Prismatic Concrete with Internal Defect (2) Analytical Research on Post-peak Behavior of RC Members with the Breaking of Hoop Tie (3) An Experimental Study on Flexural Behavior of RC Beam simulating the Deterioration by ASR (4) Research on Earthquake-resistance of RC Members deteriorated by Salt Damage (5) An Experimental Study on Evaluating the Repair Performance of RC Beams failing in Flexure The influences of internal defects, such as rock-pocket and breaking of hoop tie, on the ultimate strength and post-peak behavior of RC beams have been investigated analytically. Also, Experimental study has been carried out on RC beams simulating the internal defects due to ASR and salt damage. Furthermore, the flexural failure experiment on RC beams has been done to obtain the data, which can be used for damage evaluation of RC members. The research items and results from the academi

c year 2006 are as follows : (1) 3-D FEM Analyses on Internal State inside the Concrete Filled Steel Tubular Columns subjected to Flexural Deformation under Axial Loading (2) Analytical Study on Confining Condition inside Confining Concrete subjected to Uniaxial Compression (3) A Study on Load Carrying Capacity of RC Column with Internal Defect (4) Research on Load Carrying Capacity of RC Members Deteriorated by Salt Damage 3-D finite element deformation analyses on the CFT steel columns, which are subjected to constant axial loading and lateral monotonic loading, have been carried out to investigate the post-peak behavior of the CFT steel columns as well as confining effect on concrete from the steel tubular columns. In similar manner, experimental study has been carried out on RC beams simulating the internal defects due to ASR and salt damage. Summarizing the present research, it can be concluded that the reduction in maximum strength as well as the post-peak behavior of RC member with the internal defects could be related to the reduction in confining effect on core concrete. Therefore, study on the earthquake-resistant reinforcement to increase the confining effect inside RC members may be further target. Less
