Research Abstract |
1. Formation and development of imperial castle Shun castle and Shun Taking advantage of the result of research about the historical records, I have proved the changes of the Shun castle in medieval times from a new viewpoint, studied fundamental matters about function and composition, arrangement, cosmology, and an outer garden of the imperial castle Shun in medieval times, and clarified their meanings. I have explored the urban form and space structure of Shuri of the time of the transfer of the capital, and examined a historical background about movement of a city axis, society=space structure, and its special feature. I showed that the feng shui thought of Ryukyu went back to the time of old Ryukyu. Moreover, it was proved that politics, society, and a cultural relation with Ryukyu-Japan-China were being reflected in the space structure of Shuri. And the interesting fact which should be called "duality" was proved. 2. "Kyoto" in East▲Asia of medieval times In other to grasp the special feature of "Kyoto" of Ryukyu and Japan separated from China by the East China Sea, I have performed comparison historical consideration with "Kyoto" in East Asia and concretely clarified characteristics of Shun and Kyoto from the spatial viewpoint. Moreover, I invited the researchers of Japan, China, South Korea, and Taiwan, held the international symposium focusing on "East Asian "Capitals": Between Authority and Privatization", and got the great result. 3. Formation and development of international port city Naha The geographical feature of Naha of the old Ryukyu age was restored by utilizing the technique of GIS. I solved original local formation and developmental process by city residents. For example, development of the port city by Ryukyu Kingdom and development of residence place by overseas Chinese. And the process which they unify as Naha was solved.
