Research Abstract |
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency(JAXA) has performed deep space explorations such as Mars(Nozomi) and Small Asteroid(Hayabusa) . Furthermore JAXA is planning explorations far beyond the Jupiter Communications and ranging techniques in billions kilometer range are one of the critical issues. This research is on technology developments of ground array antennas for deep space explorations beyond the Jupiter, which has been planned by JAXA. The detailed themes are as follows : # Signal Combination Technique on Ground Array Antennas for Deep Space Downlink Communications# Signal Combination Technique on Ground Array Antennas for Deep Space Uplink Communications# Phase Compensation Technique on Signal Transmissions. We measured the phase transfer parameters of the JAXA. deep space station(Usuda 64m Station), and carriedout numerical simulations taking these measurements into account. Then we predicted the capabilities of the future ground array antennas for deep space exploration beyond the Jupiter. Especially this research gives a practical solution for signal combinations of uplink communications, which in past was considered a bottleneck for ground array antenna. This research activity accomplished the research phase of ground array antennas, showing the promising characteristics of ground array antennas for deep space explorations. This research will be followed by implementations of ground array antennas in JAXA.
