| Research Abstract |
真社会性昆虫を代表するグループであるマルハナバチ類、スズメバチ類、ミツバチ類が、個体間のコミュニケーション手段として利用している情報機能をもつ物質群にフォーカスを合わせ、その実態の解明を行った。各々のハチ類が、さまざまな揮発性の化学物質を防衛行動、配偶行動、採餌行動に利用していることが明らかとなり、物質の特定もなされた。さらに、それらの情報機能をもつ物質を応用面で活用する試みがなされた。
