Research Abstract |
In collaboration with member universities of Asian Association of Agricultural College and Universities (AAACU), in particular Kasetsart University Chiang Mai University (Thailand), and National Chung rising University (Taiwan) as core universities of e-learning net work, development of on-line master courses, standardization of curricula, their dissemination to the other member universities, and promotion of mutual recognition of credits and credit transfer system were concluded Training of WebCT course management system and Workshop were also planned. Coordinators were selected from each university for research promotion. Workshop on Development of Integrated Curriculum and Joint Degree Program in AAACIJ Network Perspectives and Constraints was held at Nagoya University by inviting curriculum research staff from Leyte State University Hanoi Agricultural University Royal University of Agriculture (Cambodia), Seoul National University and AAACU in addition to above-mentioned core univer

sities in January, 2006. Achievements and issues to overcome were reported by each university and discussed. The issues &send were recognition of credits, enrollment requirements for students, charges/fees to students, intellectual property and method of evaluating e-learning systems. It was found that there were great differences in software using on-line course development, lecture methods, and recognition of credits and credit transfer system. Points to overcome these issues were summarized and agreed to discuss to standardize at each university forward. It was also agreed to get consensus of each university for integrated curriculum and joint degree program. The training on e-learning on-line course development using WebCT Vista was held after workshop. Open software, Sakai, was newly started to use in 2006 academic year since WebCT was acquired by rival Blackboard Inc. in February 2006 and license problem occurred. Therefore, training con was held to adjust the on-line courses developed with WebCT to the Sakai system at Nagoya University by inviting related university research staff in February 2007. Meeting on development of online education and the Sakai training course were held at Nagoya University by inviting research staff of core universities in February 2008. It was agreed to promote standardization of curricula, dissemination of sleeting system with Sakai, mutual recognition of credits and credit transfer system. On-line courses currently continue to be developed at core universities. This study established foundation to conduct on-line based practical-minded master courses among agricultural universities in Asia The issue to overcome is credit transfer system among AAACU member universities.
