Research Abstract |
The results of project are well appeared in three international symposium planned and organized by project members. These symposiums has independent subjects, participants and targets, but share same underlining objectives, namely, mediation in modern world. The first symposium titled as "Mediating for Sustainable Development". In this Symposium we discussed "The sustainable development as a political problem. It has an impact on political activities and is directly related to our way of thinking and our behaviour. It is vital to act as mediators to link together for example the following issues : national politics to citizen's will, big firms and international markets to consumers, contemporary life to future generation's life. We asked mediators from various areas including politics, economy, and culture to participate in the conference. We wish to take advantage of this occasion to listen to their thoughts as well as their ideas on what we have to do for the sustainable development in uniting the relation between the world and the individuals, the regions and the globe, and the regions themselves. The second symposium is again on sustainable development, but on community level. This Symposium with title "Biodiversity for community development : Mediating between cultural preservation and development" aims to share knowledge and experiences in Ethnobiologcal studies and their application in community development in food and livelihood security. It brought together both local experts and researchers in the fields of Ethnobiology and development. The third symposium covered mediation between "the local" and "the global" focusing on forest resources. In this symposium, we picked up more specific theme as a kind of a case study.
