Research Abstract |
This study revealed how school hygiene institutions and facilities were got ready (placement in school buildings of a hygiene room and maintenance of hygiene appliances and equipments) while school hygiene measures were developed again in a local level from around 1920 when school hygiene measures revived after the transient retreat of the government-level organization which presided over school hygiene at the beginning of 1900's, and tried to grasp activities of school doctors and nurses in hygiene rooms through a state of their practical use. Furthermore, the study made a research work to read the practice situation of school nurses who were increasing rapidly in earlier period of Showa from Taisho period from articles in the magazine "Yorgo" for school nurses. Hereby, it could be revealed that the forerunner of a health room changed from a "medical room" in Meiji period into a "hygiene room" that had many functions including the prevention, consultation, and hygiene guidance etc, and the quality of school nurses' task (their eyes to shoot children) were turned to inner (mental) side and growth from the outside body of children. By interview investigation to 10 and several former Yorgo teachers who had worked as a Yorgo instructor or Yorgo teacher during and after the World War II the way of work of Yorgo teachers in the early stage after the war could be fairly realistically reproduced. In the theoretical trial of perspective and structural grasp of Yorgo teacher's practices, the structure of their practices on a current level could be arranged theoretically through the analyzing their practices that rapidly developed after 1980's. I think that a base of work to grasp the whole historical picture on a practical level of health room and Yorgo teacher linking with before and after World War II and 1980' was made up by these research works.
