| Research Abstract |
この研究は、英国ヴィクトリア朝の大衆小説家であったウイルキー・コリンズの職業作家としての生涯を、当時の出版産業の発展に絡めて包括的・学術的に研究するという、学界初の試みであり、その意義を広く国際的に知らしめたことに成果がある。そして同時に、この研究結果は、図書に関する歴史学が未だそれ程発達しているとは言えない日本においての出版産業・出版史研究の前進に貢献するものであろう。
