Research Abstract |
The purpose of this research examines the characteristic of the KEIDO-developmental disorder children such as learning disabilities (LD), attention-deficit /hyperactivity disorders (ADHD), and high-functioning pervasive developmental disorders (HFPDD) from a behavioral, psychological, neuropsychological side. And it aimed at the establishment of the system of support by the cooperation of the education, psychology, the medical treatment, and welfare. The following points became clear as the main study results. 1. It was suggested that the developmental disorder have a common problem concerning working memory or social skills. But they have peculiar problems concerning a bias of cognitive and brain function. 2. In past diagnostic criteria, there are many problems in the distinctions among HFPDD, ADHD, LD, and underachievers. And it was suggested that distinguishing among them according to the characteristic of the cognitive and brain function be important. 3. It was suggested that the viewpoint of support according to the characteristic of cognitive and brain function will be more important than the diagnosis name or overt behavior 4. From the investigation of the school teachers and the parents, it was suggested that there are a lot of problems of educational support in the kindergarten and the high school and that establishing support system over the life will be important. 5. Because a lot of case study committee and conference with teachers, parents and doctors through the study period were held, we were able to form the base of the network system to support the developmental disorders.
