Research Abstract |
1.Comparison of evacuation time between evacuation by elevators and stairs and that by stairs alone. The minimum evacuation time without fire is studied. To enlarge handling capacity, all elevators operate as shuttle. In zoning building, we divide a building into some sections vertically, and the number of section is chosen as the number of zones +1. The people in lowest section evacuate by stairs alone and the people in higher section evacuate by stairs and shuttle elevators. The evacuation time by elevator and stairs is about 1/3 compared with that by stairs alone in case of 16 floors building. 2.Elevator power supply and car operation that can operate in blackout. In case of fire, the possibility of power failure is very high. Using the passengers potential energy, elevators with some power storage can operate in evacuation, because the passengers go downward only not upward. We studied the proper car operation and the number of passengers that can operate elevators continuously. The shuttle operation is suited and the car can operate with only 1/4 passengers of car capacity in blackout. 3.Discrete event simulation of people walking stairs in egress. We have developed the event simulation method of people walking stairs. Then, the total evacuation simulation of buildings becomes possible with the elevator event simulator. 4.Pattern recognition of wheelchair people at elevator lobby. If we can recognize wheelchair people at elevator lobby with video-camera, it is easy to guide handicapped people in fire. We have developed an algorithm which can recognize the difference between wheelchair people and normal people.
