Research Abstract |
A prototype system for blind separation using independent component analysis with real-time operation in reverberating room has been developed. In this project, not only hardware system but also software tools have been developed and studied. Finally, two parallel processing systems which consist of 18 DSPs have been constructed. These systems demonstrate real-time ability of processing : FFT, sorting, ICA, inverse sorting, IFFT. A special FPGA for DSP-to-DSP communications was designed, which causes zero overhead data communication. In order to program in assembly language, source code generating system, COOK, was developed For effective debugging, special graphical debugging tool, LOOK, was also developed. These tools were essential for study using large and complicated systems. Furthermore, original ICA algorithm, rankICA, was proposed. The efficiency of the algorithm was demonstrated using numerical simulations. Through these studies, worthy of special processing system for high performance ICA was demonstrated.
