Research Abstract |
Antioxidant AHCC such as Agaricus or glucans has been known as anticancer compound. Small amount of these compounds are found in so-called medical mushrooms. Effective extraction of these compound from the AHCC enriched mushrooms will promise a mushroom farming for medical use. Feasibility of the detection of AHCC enriched points in medical mushrooms have been investigated by a newly developed 2 dimensional Optical CT. The optimum condition has been surveyed toward higher enrichment for AHCC over various farming conditions utilizing bioelectric potential signals observed on the mushroom to sense the activity of generating AHCC and mushroom growth. Additional production of a precise auto-measurement system for bioelectric potential signals. Using the knowledge gained from the fabricated equipment, an automatic system was produced for the measurement of the bioelectric potential, resulting from programmable air components or light stimuli. Practical use of light source equipment has been tried aiming at the optimum farming conditions, using the mushroom itself as a biosensor. Using MRI, we have succeeded in generating a non-destructive display of a tomograph of fungus for a period covering the initial planting of the fungus up to the dispersal of spores from the fruiting body. A light source system was fabricated, based on the results obtained from mushroom farming in a Growth Chamber in the laboratory in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the system. Observation of the biorhythm of a specific mushroom, using it as a biosensor to control the duration of light and dark of light stimulation of the surrounding mushrooms to confirm the feasibility of so-called "Speaking Plant Approach for the farming of medical mushrooms to produce anti-cancer compounds.
