Research Abstract |
Recently, performance-based designs have been developed in the Sell of geotechnical engineering. As a performance requirement, the critical deformation is determined. To verify the performance, accurate deformation predictions are required Numerical methods, such as the finite element method can be applied to pre-construction designs. While, after construction, in-situ behavior such as deformation and pore water pressure is generally measured and then employed to make precise deformation predictions For this task, the inverse analysis method is useful, and was discussed in this research. Although various nonlinear models exist, the models such as the elasto-plastic constitutive equations require a lot of parameters. And since the measured data obtained from the in-situ are limited, such models am not convenient for inverse problems. In this research, therefore, a simplified hyperbolic model was employed to simulate nonlinear shear behavior The hyperbolic model used here requires only on

e additional parameter compared with the linear elastic maid. And the cross anisotropy of the ground was assumed in this research in order to accurately predict the lateral displacement, and the dilatancy behavior Furthermore, the stochastic non-linear consolidation model, which has been developed by the authors, was applied to present the consolidation hardening and the reduction of the permeability To verify the accuracy of the proposed method, the two-dimensional consolidation model tests were carried out In the test equipment, the constraining pressure is applied by the air and the local load is applied with the loading piston. The displacements are measured at multi points through the CCD, and also the pole water pressures at three points by the pressure transducer. As experimental materials, Kaolin clay, which has low plasticity and Kasaoka marine clay which has high plasticity were employed here. For the measured data, the proposed method was applied and the possibility of its practical use was verified. Less
