Research Abstract

We have examined the effect of NE on the pathogenicity of Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Norepinephrine (NE) is not only a neurotransimitter in the central nervous system, but also is known to modulate the functions of the gut, such as smooth muscle contractibility, submucosal blood flow, and active transepithelial ion transport, through interactions with α-and β-adrenergic receptors. The enterotoxicity of V. parahaemolyticus, assayed by the rat ileal loop model, was increased by NE, and the cell cytotoxicity of V.parahaemolyticus also stimulated by NE.
Furthermore, quantity of expression of mRNA of the thermostable direct haemolytsin (TDH) which was main cause of the virulence factor of V. parahemolyticus which participated in diarrhea induction did not change almost, but confirmed that production of TDH increased. And We found that Hfq was important as mRNA combination protein of TDH. This shows that production of TDH is controlled by not only mRNA expression regulation mechanism but also translation regulation mechanism from mRNA to protein.
