Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Based on two-dimensional zeolite, three research achievements have been made. The first project is the controlled synthesis of MWW-type layered zeolite with tunable stacking sequence and Al distribution. Three different organic structure-directing agents were applied to control the stacking sequence of MWW layers in different ranges. At the same time, the Al distribution was found to be more order than conventional synthesis. The second is the synthesis of zeolite with different cage size through the ADOR method, by which two new zeolite structures could be prepared for the first time. In this part, the germanosilicate IWV was synthesized for the first time. Then, the zeolite IWV was applied to the ADOR process. The cage in zeolite structure could be controlled from extralarge pore, medium pore to small pore. The third one is the construction of extralarge pore zeolite with UTL topology from 2D zeolite precursor PREFER. The structure transformation rate was found very rapid (with several hours). The interesting mechanistic study has been carried out by using various characterizations, including the IR, PXRD etc. The role of germanium is important for the structure transformation, which was regarded as the driving force of transformation.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.
Reason
In general, the research proceeds according to the research proposal. At this stage some of the experimental results were very interesting. It is worth doing more deep research to explore the mechanism behind the experiment results, which is regarded as the goal in the following research work.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Based on the experimental results, three directions could be investigated in the future. First, the controlled synthesis of zeolite materials has been already realized in first year, but the synthesis conditions could be optimized. Second, more characterizations should be performed to confirm the hypothesis of structure formation or transformation. Third, the Al distribution is very important for zeolite research, so theoretical investigation such as calculation should be done to clarify the mechanism.
