Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は、全スケールの研究課題を推進し、さらに応用研究へと展開した。主要な研究実績は以下の通りである。
1.テトラヒメナが背景流れに対して走流性を示すことを世界に先駆けて発見した。この成果は総合誌で世界最高峰のScience Advances誌に掲載され、プレスリリースされた(Ohmura, et al., Science Adv. 2021)。 2.クラミドモナスも流れに逆らって泳ぐ性質を示すことを発見した。実験と理論、数値シミュレーションを融合し、遊泳の非定常性が走流性に必須であることを示した(Omori, et al., J. Fluid Mech. 2021)。 3.さまざまな遊泳モードの微生物干渉の解析を行い、干渉運動の相図を作成した。微生物干渉の体系的な理解が進んだ(Darveniza, et al., Phys. Rev. Fluids,2022)。 4.数値解析手法の高度化にも取り組み、汎用性の高い境界要素法と近接場が得意な潤滑理論を融合させたLT-BEMを開発した。(Ishikawa, J. Comp. Phys., 2022)。 5.開発した解析プラットフォームをバイオフィルムの形成過程へと展開した。複雑流路内に形成されるストリーマーの形成過程を細胞スケールから調べ、マクロなレオロジー特性とストリーマー形状との関係を解明した(Kitamura, et al., J. R. Soc. Interface, 2021)。 6.開発した解析プラットフォームを酵母の発酵過程へと展開し、マルチスケール解析プラットフォームを用いて培養時の輸送現象を定量的に解明した。この成果はSoft Matter誌の背表紙を飾り、プレスリリースされた(Srivastava, et al., Roy. Soc. Open Sci., 2021; Soft Matter, 2021)。
