Thermal conductivity clarification of parallel plate structured material with nanometer sized period - Toward realization of high ZT thermoelectric materials -

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、パルスレーザー堆積法や反応性固相エピタキシャル成長法を駆使してナノ周期平行平板構造薄膜を作製し、その物質、組成、角度と熱伝導率の関係をTDTR法によって精密に計測することで、「ナノ周期平行平板構造が熱伝導率に及ぼす影響を実験的に解明する」ことを目標している。2018年度は、計画通り、反応性固相エピタキシャル成長法によって自然超格子InGaO3(ZnO)m単結晶薄膜を作製し、超格子に垂直方向の熱伝導率を計測した。m値を大きく変化させた単結晶薄膜を用いて計測することで、単結晶であるにも関わらず、層に直交方向の熱伝導率はアモルファス状態よりも低いことが明らかになった。これは、結晶格子を持たないアモルファスよりも、InO2層/GaO(ZnO)m層の界面熱抵抗が熱伝導率を下げるのに有用であることを示す結果である。現在は、超格子が傾斜した自然超格子単結晶薄膜を用いて、層に平行方向の熱伝導率を計測している。また、層状構造を有するAxCoO2系熱電材料や、温度やイオンの脱挿入によって金属-絶縁体転移を起こす遷移金属酸化物の薄膜作製と、その熱伝導率計測を行った。AxCoO2では、Aイオンの原子量の増加に伴い、熱伝導率の異方性が減少し、層に平行な方向の熱伝導率が下げられることが分かってきた。また、NbO2薄膜やWOx薄膜などの熱伝導率計測を行い、いくつかは既に論文としてまとめることができた。論文、招待講演などの実績(数)は、原著論文:12報、招待講演:12件、著書:0(執筆済2)、新聞等報道(海外含):39件、など。

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

2018年度は、当初計画通り、自然超格子InGaO3(ZnO)m、層状構造を有するAxCoO2系熱電材料や、温度やイオンの脱挿入によって金属-絶縁体転移を起こす遷移金属酸化物の薄膜作製と、その熱伝導率計測を行った。また、2017年度に研究したSrTiO3人工超格子については論文掲載され(Nature Commun.)、プレスリリースにより大きな反響が得られた。また、SrTiO3-SrNbO3固溶体で見出した従来の常識を覆す結果については、現在、論文執筆中である。以上より、2018年度の進捗状況は、概ね順調であり、多くは当初計画を上回っていると自己評価した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

2019年度は、超格子が傾斜して成長したInGaO3(ZnO)m単結晶薄膜の熱伝導率計測から、層に平行方向の熱伝導率を明らかにするとともに、温度依存性を計測することで、フォノン伝播に関する論文としてまとめる予定である。また、2018年度中に、層状構造を有するコバルト酸化物の層に垂直方向と平行方向の熱伝導率を計測し、層間イオンの原子量の増加に伴い、熱伝導率の異方性が減少することを明らかにしたので、熱電特性も含めて現象を明らかにし、論文にまとめる予定である。また、引き続き温度やイオンの脱挿入によって金属-絶縁体転移を起こす遷移金属酸化物の薄膜作製と、その熱伝導率計測を行う。

Nature Communications 論文の出版に合わせてプレスリリースを行った。電子をギュッと閉じ込めて熱電材料の性能を倍増 ~熱電材料を高性能化する理論を実証~(2018年6月20日)国内外合わせて30件以上の新聞、インターネットで掲載された。
