Outline of Final Research Achievements

We aimed to elucidate (a) the neural mechanisms underlying the effects of cognitive training on spatial imagery, and (b) the influence of the ability of executive functions on the ability to solve tasks encountered in daily life. The results showed that cognitive training increased the activity of brain regions directly related to that cognitive task, while at the same time it decreased the activities irrelevant to the task execution, indicating that brain network becomes "more efficient". The results also revealed that executive function significantly influences the stability of driving behavior during the take-over performance in highly automated driving.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
