Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本企画では、専門集団・国家による組織化された戦争やテロではなく、普通の人びとが行使する暴力（民衆暴力）の問題を歴史の文脈から分析する。研究フィールドは日本（北海道・沖縄）近世・近代・現代、朝鮮近代、ベトナム近代、フランス近代、アイルランド近代とする。
民衆暴力が行使されたのち、被害と加害が同居する地域社会において、それがいかに記憶・記録され語られていったのか,という問題も考察する。これにより、民衆の多様な側面、矛盾を含んだ諸要素を明らかにすることで、低迷している民衆史研究を活性化させるとともに、「現代歴史学」の方向性にも一石を投じることができる。
