Outline of Final Research Achievements

Tea nicotine biosynthesis may be regulated by a few genes. In addition, the activation of the polyamine synthesis pathway was associated with nicotine content, suggesting that there is another biosynthetic pathway for nicotine biosynthesis in tea plant that is not mediated by CsPMT.
It is important to control the catechin content in plants and to select strains that are resistant to the antimicrobial action of catechins, as well as to control the catechin content in plants. Furthermore, it was suggested that the transformation by bombardment method was more suitable for the transformation of tea plant.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
