光吸収性エアロゾルの混合状態を解像した全球エアロゾルモデルの開発と気候影響評価

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

大気微粒子(エアロゾル)と放射・雲との相互作用(直接・間接効果)は、気候変動予測における最大の不確定要因の1つになっている。直接・間接効果の推定では、エアロゾルの粒径分布と光吸収性エアロゾルの混合状態の推定精度が鍵を握る。本課題では、この粒径・混合状態を十分に表現できる世界初の全球エアロゾルモデルを開発し、光吸収性エアロゾル各成分およびエアロゾル全体の直接・間接効果の推定精度を飛躍的に向上させることを目的とする。
令和2年度は、これまで開発してきた全球エアロゾルモデルCAM5-chem/ATRASを用い、ブラックカーボンの時空間分布と気候影響の不確定要因となるプロセスやパラメータを明らかにする研究を実施した。まず、積雲と混合相雲(水と氷が共存する雲)におけるエアロゾルの除去過程のモデル表現を改良した。この改良によって、モデル計算による熱帯域の上部対流圏でのブラックカーボンの質量濃度は約10倍減少し、北極域の下部・中部対流圏のブラックカーボン濃度は数倍程度増大した。これらの濃度の増減によって、熱帯域と北極域の両方の領域でのブラックカーボンの観測再現性は大きく改善し、モデル計算によるブラックカーボンの全球分布の推定精度が向上した。また、雲内での上昇流速度や最大過飽和度のモデル表現にも大きな不確定性があり、この不確定性の低減が、ブラックカーボンや他のエアロゾル成分の全球分布や北極域での濃度の推定において非常に重要になることを明らかにした。現状の雲内の上昇流の不確定性に伴うブラックカーボンの放射強制力の不確定性幅は、全球平均で0.31~0.43 W m-2、北極域では0.091~0.40 W m-2と推定された。
