Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Capability of utilization of antiferromagnets (AFMs) as multifunctional components of spintronic devices has opened new directions in the field of next generation low power consuming spintronic architectures. One of the pertinent questions concerning the realization of pure antiferromagnetic spintronics is an electrical detection of antiferromagnetic moments. Quantification of magnetoresistive effects in AFM/non-magnet (NM) structures can serve as an electrical probe of detection. Our experimental results on Pt0.38Mn0.62/Pt heterostructures indicated the presence of spin-Hall magnetoresistance (SMR) effects in metallic AFM-based structures. The presence of SMR opens an unexplored route for metallic antiferromagnetic spintronics.
