Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to clarify the meanings and the recipient, a database of images was constructed using the paintings "the imported plants" (tropical plant) drawn by Ito Jakuchu and the painters in Kyoto of the 18th century as the subject. The result was that Ito Jakuchu drew those as the image indicating the foreign country consciously. In addition, it can be said that the recipient can be assumed the upper classes such as court nobles.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では、従来の若冲研究においてさほど比重が置かれていなかった「植物」モチーフの考察を行い、若冲画の分析を通して十八世紀京都画壇のあり様を考究した。その結果、とりわけ若冲画の植物モチーフには意図的な選択がうかがえること、また、これまで享受者としてあまり注目されていない公家層が想定できること等、若冲画の新たな一側面を見出した。 伊藤若冲は近年人気を博している画家であり、本研究の成果は、若冲研究や近世絵画史研究などの学術的意義のみならず、社会学的意義にもつながるものと考える。
