Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During this year I was able to write a paper that describe the evolutionary history of secondary metabolisms in several dinoflagellates genomes and how such evolution is linked to environmental/ecological settings. I was able to link secondary metabolism pathways to metabolites and how duplication, retrotransposition and horizontal gene transfer led to the expansion of such pathways. Additionally, I am now designing the use of long reads RNA sequencing to understand RNA metabolism in dinoflagellates.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.
Reason
1. We completed the genome sequencing of Amphidinium gibbosum and combined several omics approach to understand biosynthesis of secondary metabolites. 2. We proposed a model for secondary metabolites biosynthesis in dinoflagellates based on genomics surveys. 3. We generated long reads Isoseq sequencing to help understand transcriptomics in Amphidinium.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Currently I will employ long read RNA sequencing from Oxford Nanopore so as to study the role of different transcriptomic events such as splicing and polyadenylation. this will be done with help of RNA labeling and machine learning algorith.
