Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the 2022 fiscal year (the final year of this project), the PRTF notches throughout the median plane of a human pinna were deepened, by selectively lowering the reflection coefficient at only certain parts of the pinna surface, without changing the pinna shape. This result was achieved by a combination of acoustic simulations, sensitivity analyses, and clustering analyses. Not only were the notches deepened, but also as a consequence, the notch trajectories were made more continuous, compared with the original unmodified simulation results. This work was presented as an invited paper to the structured session on Spatial Hearing at the International Congress on Acoustics (ICA, Oct 2022).
