Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Water treatment technology using self-assembled organic molecules as adsorbents was developed. Research on each process such as dispersion, adsorption, separation, collection of valuables, and reproduction, gave novel water treatment technology both with high performance and low cost. Self-assembled organic molecules designing for higher adsorption were hybridized with sub-micrometer sized magnetite particles, and they could not only adsorb heavy metals and harmful organic matters but also be separated magnetically. Self-assembled organic molecules are recovered easily by adding some reagents such as phosphoric acid.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
有機分子が自己集積により形成するナノ構造体を含油排水に効率よく分散させる手法、磁性微粒子と複合化して磁気により容易に分離できる手法、重金属、油脂、有機物、懸濁物質などを一度で除去できる高い吸着力をもたせる分子設計の手法を開発した。環境中に暴露した場合にも、天然由来の有機物から合成した化合物であるので生分解性が期待できるため環境への悪影響はなく、無機物や高分子と比較して再利用が容易であると期待できる。これまでにない、低環境負荷の吸着剤を世の中に提供できる意義がある。
