Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The goal for this year was to administer a self-report questonnaire to parents/guardians of children under 6 years old, and begin coding the data. The questionnaire was sent to 4245 families from 77 day care centers throughout the prefecture. 3141 fully completed questionnaires were returned. Due to a delay in finalizing the questionnaire, it was only sent out in January 2018. All questionnaires were returned by the end of February but there was no time to begin processing the data. A second goal for this year was to begin preparation for a roadside survey. Our team met with city officials and a prefecture police representative to begin the process; however, due to the timing of the questionnaire and funds needed, we were unable to proceed any further.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
A considerable delay in finalizing the questionnaire has led to overall delays. Furthermore, an unexpectedly high number of questionniares were required, which significantly increased costs associated with preparing and distributing the questionnaire.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In 2019, the questionnare data will be coded and processed. We plan to present and write a paper disclosing the results.
|
Causes of Carryover |
The funds will be used to process the data colleted in the questionnaires. Also, funds will be used to attend and present at a conference.
