学術的誠実性とは、学術研究及び高等教育の脈絡において、学術活動を律する規範を遵守することである。最終年度においては、とくに定義の問題を再検討した。
結論としては、「学術的誠実性」の定義として、学術的誠実性国際センター(International Center For Academic Integrity, ICAI)によるものを踏襲することとした。この定義は、英国のQAAやオーストラリアのTEQSA によっても実践的に利用されている。その原語(英語)による表現は、"a commitment, even in the face of adversity, to six fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage. From these values flow principles of behaviour that enable academic communities to translate ideals to action"となる。すなわち、学術的に誠実であるということは、その遂行が容易ではない場合でも、正直、信頼、公正、尊敬、責任、勇気という6つの基本的な価値を実現しようとすることとしている。そしてこれらの価値観をもとにして、学術的な共同体が理念を行動に変換することを可能とする行動原則が導かれるという構造をとっている。
この定義を前提として、すでに分析を行っていたcontract cheating, フットボール選手である学生に対して大学の教育の水準に関連するような優遇措置をとっているということに加え、研究倫理における個人における不正としてのFFPのみでなく、軍事研究とされている公的資金提供の枠組みの検討を行った。
