Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
On August 21 2018 the project group organized an international conference titled "El Guardian de la palabra: una mirada interdisciplinaria sobre la poesia de Jose Watanabe", held at the Pontifica Universidad Catolica de Peru and sponsored by the Asociacion Peruano Japonesa en Lima, Peru. The three members of the present project presented the results of the first two years of the project. In addition, field work was carried out in Lima, Trujillo and Laredo, Peru in which valuable biographical information was acquired through interviews with family members, friends and teachers, as well as visits to relevant sites of Watanabe's upbringing. A book proposal in which the results of the current research is to be presented was submitted to Palgrave , USA. Book chapters are being redacted.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The final product of the research will be publication of a book focusing on the multidisciplinary analysis of the poetry of Jose Watanabe. In the project"s original plan submission for the book proposal was scheduled for the third year. However, the proposal was submitted during the second year. This has allowed additional time to expand the research span and to possibly carry out further field work. This would allow a more in depth analysis and further expansion of the analysis currently in progress.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
This final year of the project will be largely dedicated to redacting the proposed book. Additional field work may be carried out in Peru to further substantiate current hypotheses and to expand new analysis. Participation in international conferences is also scheduled and publications in scholarly journals in conjunction with the book proposal are also scheduled. Meetings will be arranged in order to discuss issues with the book proposal as well as to exchange opinions related to progress on each investigators analysis.
|
Causes of Carryover |
the third year of the project includes final analysis of the field work and the collection of any necessary data to complement and sustantiate the study. An additional trip to Peru is scheduled in order to expand the data analysis carried out in the first two years of the project. In addition, during this final stage of the research project the redaction of the thesis for publication will be carried out by all members of the project. This final process will require the use of professional translators and editors.
