Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The study aimed to build a database by comprehensively collecting Hangul letters exchanged between Japan and Korea from the middle of the Edo period to the early Meiji period. Although it was difficult to grasp the full picture of the Hangul letters due to reasons such as not being disclosed in the past, it was designed to conduct a comprehensive investigation and analysis by taking advantage of the recent disclosure of them. Specifically, the database was created by collecting Hangul letters of Tsushima Souke Bunko, which are owned by Nagasaki Prefectural Research Center for History of Tsushima and National Institute of Korean History, as well as Hangul letters collections owned by Tsushima Kagiya History Museum. Some of these materials were previously unknown to academia.
