Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We have improved the system in three areas: the facial expression analysis is using AI, requiring less personal data, as well as the facial recognition component; speaking assessment also had its evaluation criterion expanded. In the final year of our project we were going to present our findings at domestic and international conferences, unfortunately many of our conferences were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Due to this fact, in March, I extended our initial three-year project by applying for a one year extension. During this additional year, we will complete our research and present our findings via online conferences.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Our ability to conclude research and present at international conferences was impeded by the coronavirus pandemic. This will be completed in the additional year.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We are currently improving our system in the three following areas: the facial expression analysis will be improved with AI, requiring less personal data, as well as the facial recognition component; gestural analysis will be improved along the same method; speech audio wave analysis will have its evaluation criterion expanded. The increase of evaluation criterion in the rubric will increase the accuracy of the system.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, research and publication of findings were impeded. The remaining funds will be spent for completing the research and presenting the findings at online conferences.
